Is There Assistance for Fibromyalgia Medications?
I'm having trouble affording my fibromyalgia medications. Are there any assistance programs to help people who can't afford their medications?
The first step is to talk with your healthcare provider and/or pharmacist. He or she can help you sort through the many different options. Also, be sure to check the manufacturer's Web site for your medication, particularly for brand-name medications. Most pharmaceutical companies have programs in place to help people afford their medications. Of course, income limits will apply in order to make sure that only people who really need help receive financial assistance.
You may qualify for Medicaid or Medicare Part D, depending on your situation. These government programs also can help you pay for medications.
If you have exhausted all your options for financial assistance and still cannot afford your fibromyalgia medications, it is probably time to talk with your healthcare provider about other, more affordable treatment options.
